Charles Lloyd
Born in Memphis, Tennessee on March 15, 1938.
Saxophonist, composer, NEA Jazz Master, Chevalier des Arts et Lettres, Memphis Music Hall of Fame, Honorary doctorates from Berklee College of Music & Cal Arts.His recording career, which began with Columbia in 1964, saw a global smash hit with Forest Flower on Atlantic in 1967, passed through a 22-year period of maturity at ECM, and is now thriving with his recording work at Blue Note since 2015. The latest one is 『Figure in Blue』(BN, 2025).

1938年3月15日、テネシー州メンフィス生まれ。サックス奏者、作曲家、NEA（全米芸術基金）ジャズ・マスター、芸術文化勲章（シュヴァリエ）受章、メンフィス・ミュージックの殿堂入り、バークリー音楽大学およびカリフォルニア芸術大学（CalArts）名誉博士。1964年、コロムビアから始まった彼のレコーディング・キャリアは1967年のAtlanticでの『Forest Flower』の世界的なヒットを経て、ECMでの22年間の成熟期を通過、2015年以降はBlueNoteでの録音生活を満喫している。最新作は『Figure in Blue』(BN 2025)。
