Terrie Ex テリー・エックス from オランダ（ギター)
テリー・エックス（オランダ・ウェストザーン、1954年生まれ）がギターを弾き始めたのは、1979年にアナーコパンクバンドThe Exを共同結成したときである。言ってみれば偶然だった―――誰も弾きたがらなかった楽器だったから。それ以来、かれはThe Exで二千回ものコンサートをこなしている。それに加え、フリー・インプロヴィゼーションも始めた。1981年のAwara / The Exによる7吋盤のギターソロから、即興グループ Offonoff や LeanLeft（ケン・ヴァンダーマーク、アンディ・ムーア、ポール・ニルセン・ラヴも参加）、ハン・ベニンクとのツアーまで、その活動は多岐にわたる。1996年にはエマ・フィッシャーとともにアフリカ大陸の 21 カ国を車で旅した。2000年、自身の即興プロジェクトとアフリカ音楽のためにTERPレーベルを設立。他にも、ソニック・ユース、ジョン・ケイル、ゲタチュウ・メクリヤ、ハーマン・ブルード、ヘル・ゼーレ、カマグルカなど数多くのアーティストと共演している。
Terrie Ex (Westzaan, 1954) started playing guitar when he co-founded The Ex in 1979. Kind of a coincidence; it was the instrument that no one wanted to play. Ever since that moment he played almost 2000 concerts with The Ex. Next to all The Ex releases Terrie started free improvising. From a little guitar solo on the Awara/Ex 7 “ in 1981, unitl recent tours with Han Bennink of impro groups Offonoff and LeanLeft (with Ken Vandermark, Andy en Paal Nilssen-Love). In 1996, Terrie drove through 21 countries on the African continent, together with Emma Fischer. They started the TERP label in 2000 for his own impro projects and African music. He produced CD’s with amongst others Tsehaytu Beraki, Getatchew Mekuria, Konono No.1 and Mohammed Jimmy Mohammed. Terrie played with amongst others: Sonic Youth, John Cale, Getatchew Mekuria, Herman Brood, Herr Seele and Kamagurka.

Paal Nilssen-Love ポール・ニルセン・ラヴ from ノルウェー（ドラムス)
ポール・ニルセン・ラヴ（The Thing、Arashi、Large Unit、LeanLeft、Original Silence、ケン・ヴァンダーマークとのデュオ、ペーター・ブロッツマンとのデュオなど）は1974年12月24日にノルウェーのモルデで生まれ、両親が経営するスタヴァンゲルのジャズクラブで育った。いくつものバンドで同時に活動することはつねにポールの方法論だった。しかも、それぞれの活動に完全に没頭している。演奏とはスタートからゴールへの到達などではなく、むしろ永遠に続くプロセス、絶え間ない動きであり、演奏するあらたな曲のひとつひとつが前からつながっている。それゆえ、かれにとってはその瞬間に起きていることに集中し、全エネルギーを注ぐことが最も重要なのだ———音楽における自由、表現の中で自由である能力と同様に。
Paal was born in Molde, Norway, Dec 24. 1974, and raised at a jazz club in Stavanger, run by his parents. Being active in several bands at the same time has always been Paal’s deliberate working method. He is constantly conscious about the projects he is in, as his participation in each and one of them is fully dedicated. Playing is not about getting from start to goal, but rather being in an everlasting process, a continuous movement where each new piece of music performed is a prolongation of the latest. Hence, keeping focused and concentrating all energy around what’s happening there and then is of greatest importance – as is the freedom in the music, the ability of being free within the expression.
