ラテン文化圏の名曲の数々を、「今」の地平から自在に鳥瞰したデュオ・アルバム。喜多直毅と田中信正という挑戦的な奏者の手にかかり、名曲であるが所以の既成イメージが鮮やかに塗り替えられ、拓かれてゆく。奏者のオリジナリティが楽曲の完成度としのぎを削る。インストゥルメンタルだが、「うた」の情念がもつ威力は絶大。音に転化した言魂は濃密に伝わる。
擦弦が空間に残す染み、それが起爆剤となり現実がデフォルメされるが、情緒溢れる歌世界を旅する一方で聴き手の意識は不思議と「今、ここ」にくすぶり続ける。複眼の感覚である。端正な音色のなかに沁み入るような吸収力をもつ田中のピアノ。弱音でこそ凄みが増す。燻(いぶ)しの効いた練られたリリシズムだが、随所から滲み出る凛冽なエネルギーに戦慄する。
無意識の闇、倍音の光彩や不均衡な滑走を呑み込んでは流れおちるパッション、呼応する慰撫のそよぎ。極限で維持される優美と堰(せき)を切るエモーション—-それらの変転によってこすり出される様々な像。土着の音楽の憚らぬ喜怒哀楽と、同時に追求される「表現すること」の究極形—-その軌道が高次元で交差する、トータル・ミュージックのひとつの到達点。刹那の振動をも決して逃さぬレコーディングの技倆はもとより、制作サイドの澄み切った感性も結実している。

This duo album from Naoki Kita and Nobumasa Tanaka gives us a soaring bird’s-eye view of many masterpieces in the Latin cultural arena, but with a firm grounding in the now. By falling into the hands of these two provocative players, the stereotypical images of such famous tunes have been freshly repainted and masterfully unfolded before us. The players’ originality competes ruthlessly with the familiar completeness of the pieces. Even though they are instrumental works, the powerful pathos and passions contained within the “songs” is immense, and the spirit of language transforming into pure sound is strongly perceived.
The bowed strings leave resonant stains in space, which become a trigger for deforming reality; while travelling in this world of songs richly imbued with emotions, the listener’s consciousness strangely continues holding to the here and now. It is a multifaceted sense. Tanaka’s piano has a striking power to absorb as if infiltrating into noble tones. Its very grimness is precisely enhanced with softer sounds. The elaborated, yet quiet and restrained lyricism has an intense energy shining through from every part, making the listener shiver. Their passion repeatedly absorbing the darkness of unconsciousness, the luster of overtones, and an unbalanced sliding, all runs down until a rustle of consolation quietly responds. Elegance sustained at the edges and the release of flooding emotions; by their vicissitudes, diverse images are polished and projected. We find the unhindered human emotions of indigenous music and the ultimate form of the necessity to express concurrently sought; this work is a height of total music in which these orbits intersect in higher dimension. The recording techniques, which never miss a single nuanced moment, and the perfectly clear sensitivity of the production-side completes the successful fruition of this album.

O album do dueto Naoki Kita e Nobusama Tanaka dá-nos um panorama sonoro de muitas obras-primas da cultura latina, mas sempre com forte ligação ao momento presente. Nas mãos destes dois músicos provocantes, as imagens estereotipadas de tão famosas melodias foram pintadas de fresco e perante nós reveladas com maestria. A originalidade dos executantes compete implacavelmente com a conhecida configuração das obras. Embora sejam peças instrumentais, o poderoso pathos e paixões contidas nas canções são imensos, e o espírito da linguagem, transformado em sonoridade pura, é fortemente percebido. As cordas curvadas deixam marcas sonoras no espaço, o que desencadeia a deformação da realidade: enquanto se passeia neste mundo de canções ricamente imbuídas de emoções, a consciência do ouvinte continua estranhamente a ligar-se ao aqui e agora. É um sentimento multifacetado. O piano de Tanaka tem um poder impressionante para absorver como se infiltrasse em tonalidades nobres. Quanto mais suave o registo, mais forte a intensidade. O elaborado lirismo, embora tranquilo e contido, tem uma energia intensa que brilha em todos os momentos, provocando arrepios no ouvinte. A paixão do dueto absorvendo repetidamente a escuridão da inconsciência, o esplendor dos harmónicos e um deslizar desequilibrado, tudo desce até que um sussurro de consolação responde calmamente. Elegância mantida nos limites e libertação de um dilúvio de emoções; nas suas vicissitudes, diversas imagens são polidas e projectadas. Encontramos as emoções humanas libertas pela música indígena e a forma última para em simultâneo exprimir procura; este trabalho é uma realização de música total em que estas órbitas se intersectam. As técnicas de gravação, que não perdem uma única nuance, e a sensibilidade perfeitamente clara da produção completam a fruição deste álbum.
